Abstract:
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been widely used to strengthen deficient reinforced concrete structures. The bond strength between FRP and concrete is an important design parameter, which can be measured by a single shear test. This paper presents an FEM simulation of the single shear test based on the cohesive zone model (CZM), a tri-linear stress-deformation model. Some typical experimental results are employed to obtain relevant parameters in the CZM, which agree those in published literatures. The detailed parametric study is then performed to show the influence of parameters of the CZM on the results, and a suggestion for appropriately choosing these parameters is given.
