Abstract:
With regard to the application of shape memory alloy (SMA) in the isolation field, the investigation of isolation devices based on the unique performance of the SMA is one of the key points. In order to study the SMA isolation effects, a super-elastic SMA isolator was designed in this paper. Its theoretical calculation model was deduced from its structural construction and working principle. A finite element model was further established, the results of which was to be compared with that of a theoretical model. A simplified design method for SMA isolation was put forward, and it was used to design and study the isolation of a space grid structure. The results indicated that the SMA isolator can reduce the seismic responses of the structure effectively. The results suggest that the isolation method may satisfy corresponding engineering applications.
