Abstract:
Three-dimensional finite element method was used to investigate the effect of the stress-strain response of a concrete-faced rockfill dam due to different filling materials between the face slab and interface on the extrusion wall. The behaviors of the rockfill and soil-structure interface were described by Shen’s two-yield-surface model and Tsinghua’s elasto-plasticity damage model, respectively. The FEM analysis results show that the filling materials between the face slab and extrusion wall have a small effect on the stress-strain response of the dam. The extrusion wall can decrease the tensile stress of the face slab and do not deteriorate the stress of the face slab. The filling materials between the face slab and extrusion wall can decrease the stress of the face slab; different filling materials have different effects on the face slab in a certain extent.
