Abstract:
Wind-induced dynamic response of membrane structures is characterized by fluid-structure coupling interaction, which includes the calculation of the added air-mass on the membrane. Based on the characteristics of membrane structures, the expression of the added air-mass
mac of the closed membrane structures is derived using the Green function method. The curve of nondimensional added air-mass
mac/ρl corresponding to geometric scale
k of the membrane is obtained and all factors influencing the value of the
mac/ρl are discussed. Thin aerofoil theory is applied and the expression of the added air-mass
ma0 of the open membrane is deduced. The curve of nondimensional added air-mass
ma0/ρl with geometric scale
H/l of the membrane is obtained and all factors influencing the value of
ma0/ρl are discussed. The present study lays down the foundation for the wind-induced nonlinear coupling dynamic analysis of the membrane structures.
