Abstract:
General mode shape corrections for wind-induced responses of tall buildings are derived and compared with the previous results to clarify the misconceptions and misleading conclusions existing in the literature. A new correction procedure for equivalent wind loads is proposed, which is especially convenient for code use. Corrections are separately set out for resonant and background components in along-wind, across-wind and torsion directions. Several well-known procedures in the literature can be conceptually regarded as particular cases of the general treatment in this paper.
