Abstract: The impact buckling criteria provide a basis for analyzing the dynamic stability of structures under impact loadings. However, it is just in this basis there exists many problems that hamper the establishment of proper theory of structural impact buckling. The article gives a rather detailed introduction to and discussion on the subject. In the case of perfect elastic structures, a criterion of the transient linear bifurcation is suggested.
