LOAD-CARRYING CAPACITY ANALYSIS OF CONTINUOUS STEEL-CONCRETE COMPOSITE BEAMS STRENGTHENED BY EXTERNAL PRESTRESS

Continuous steel-concrete composite beams strengthened by external prestress in both elastic and ultimate states are studied.The influence of prestress and its increment is considered.Based on the force method,formulae are proposed for calculating the yield and ultimate loads of the beams under symmetrical concentrated loads.Compared with the measurements of two specimens,the predicted results by the proposed formulae are accurate.The formulae are expected to be useful for design.
