  • The creep of concrete structures is studied using degenerated beam element. In the practical concrete structures, the creep effect will interact with such nonlinear behavior as the crack of concrete and so on. By utilizing the strain-displacement relationships, the constitutive equations of 3D structures, and the piecewise integrating technology, the degenerated beam element can simulate the nonlinear behaviors of concrete structures conveniently. Based on the Trost-Bazant method, the creep analysis procedure of concrete structures by the degenerated beam element is presented. The example analysis demonstrate the accuracy of the numerical results presented in this paper and the necessity of considering the concrete nonlinear effects in practical engineering creep analysis.
