  • A theoretical analysis is carried out for the load carrying capacities of the axially compressed concrete filled CFRP-steel tube.Several basic assumptions on the overall mechanical property of this structure are proposed.Two equations are derived for estimating the strength of the system when the steel tube yields and CFRP-sheet breaks through ultimate equilibrium method.An experimental investigation was performed on 12 specimens,including 8 concrete filled CFRP-steel tubes and 4 concrete filled steel tubes,in order to verify the present study.The comparison of the experimental data and the results from the proposed equations shows good consistency.
