Abstract
A new type of RC core walls with concrete filled steel tube (CFT) columns and concealed steel trusses was proposed in this paper. In order to evaluate its seismic performance, two specimens of 1/6 scale core walls, one with CFT-columns and the other with CFT-columns and concealed steel trusses, were tested under the cyclic loading. Based on experiment results, the load-carrying capacity, ductility, hysteretic characteristics, energy dissipation capacity, stiffness degradation and damage characteristics of the two specimens were compared and analyzed. It showed that the seismic performance of core walls with CFT-columns and concealed steel trusses was better than that with CFT-columns only. The mechanical model of the load-carrying capacity of this new composite core walls was established upon the experiment. The calculated results were in good agreement with those from the experiment.
