NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF MEAN WIND PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION ON SADDLE ROOF

  • Based on the Reynolds-averaged N-S equations and Reynolds stress equation model (RSM), the numerical simulation of mean wind pressure distribution on a saddle roof is performed. The finite volume method is employed to discretize the governing differential equations, and the SIMPLE pressure correction iteration algorithm is adopted to solve the nonlinear equations. The numerical results are found to have good agreement with the experimental results. The characteristics of wind pressure distribution and the flow field are discussed by considering some parameters such as wind direction, span-height ratio, rise-span ratio, roughness of terrain and wind velocity. Finally, based on the roof shape and the regularity of wind pressure distribution, the saddle roof is divided into twelve sub-regions and the local wind pressure coefficients of every region are provided for the engineering design.
