FAILURE STRESS ANALYSIS AROUND THE HOLE IN POINT-SUPPORTED GLASS PANELS

  • Stress distribution around holes in point supported glass panels is important but not clear yet.This paper uses circular disk models in experiments to measure failure stresses around the hole,because its axial symmetry can decrease the material discrete influence.A formula describing the stresses distribution in the panel is derived and verified by finite element analysis and experimental results,respectively.A limit failure stress is recommended,comparing various results.The present analysis and results are helpful to the improvement of the point-supported glass curtain wall design method.
