ESTIMATION OF EXCESS POREWATER PRESSURE DURING PILE INSTALITION BY PIEZOCONE TEST

  • A new method using piezocone test to estimate the excess pore water pressure caused by installing pile is proposed in this paper. The mechanism for generation of excess pore water pressure is explained and a theoretical solution deduced from the expansion of cylindrical and spherical cavities is presented. The analysis is conducted on the basis of the similarity of piezocone test and the driving pile. The proposed analysis method is validated through the comparison of the values of excess pore water pressure, piezocone test, theoretical estimates and the data collected in four projects.
