Abstract
A new method for analysis of ultimate strength of ship hull is developed. The method is based on an idealized structural unit method. Using the stiffened plate unit to simulate the buckling/plastic failure of ship hulls under tensile/compressive loads, the method provides a fast and credible tool for assessment of ship hull design loads and safety.
