PERFORMANCE-BASED FIRE-RESISTANT DESIGN OF STEEL STRUCTURE

In this paper, the disastrous effect of fire on steel structure and the purpose of fire-resistant design for steel structures are introduced. The conventional fire-resistant design method and its disadvantage are discussed. As an advanced and promising fire-resistant design method, the performance-based method is recommended.
