Abstract
Rigid and aeroelastic model wind tunnel tests for a long-span roof structure in the case of round close and sudden opening were carried out. The time histories of wind pressure and acceleration of the roof structure model were measured. The time history records of wind pressure on the roof surface from the rigid model tests were treated as dynamic loads acting on the roof structure, and the wind-induced transient dynamic responses of long-span roof structure were predicted using finite element method. The results obtained from the finite element method agree well with the aeroelastic model wind tunnel test results. This paper also explains in detail the mechanism of wind-induced dynamic response and transient response characteristics of long-span roof structure in the case of sudden opening. The gust load factor and gust displacement factor in the case of round close and sudden opening are calculated and compared, respectively. Some valuable guidelines and recommendations for wind resistance design of long span-roof structure are proposed.
