EVOLUTIONARY OPTIMIZATION DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL TOPOLOGY BASED ON MAN-MADE MATERIAL

Abstract
An idea to insert man-made material around structural cavities and boundaries is presented. Combining evolutionary structural optimization method with stress sensitivity, criteria for adding and removing finite elements are developed, and a new topology optimization procedure is given. Several examples show that the optimal topology can be obtained by the proposed method for different initial structure in the fixed finite element mesh, and the proposed method is very effective for structural topology optimization, and of good engineering application value.
