TWO GENERALIZED CONFORMING QUADRILATERAL THICK PLATE ELEMENTS BASED ON ANALYTICAL TRIAL FUNCTIONS

Abstract
Two generalized conforming quadrilateral thick plate elements are developed in this paper. From the governing equations of Mindlin-Reissner plate theory, the fundamental analytical solutions are first derived and then used as the trial functions to formulate the element. Numerical examples show that the proposed elements, ATF-PQ4a and ATF-PQ4b, are free from shear locking and exhibit excellent performance.
