Abstract
Although the problem of dynamic thermostress distribution in an infinite elastic solid with a spherical cavity has been settled, a general solution of a two-dimensional dynamic thermostress distribution in the neighborhood of a circular cavity in a steady temperature field has not been obtained yet. Using the complex function method, the present paper investigates the problem of dynamic thermostress distribution at the surface of a circular cavity in a semi-infinite elastic plane subjected to a steady temperature field. An analytical solution, represented by Hankel functions, is obtained. Some numerical results and discussion on them are given.
