Abstract
Based on a maximum likelihood method and a second moment approximation, a new method for fatigue reliability analysis is presented. Taken as a random variable, the crack growth rate is introduced into the Paris law. The deterministic differential equation for the crack growth rate is solved, assuming that the parameter in this equation is a random variable. The comparison with available experimental data indicates that the proposed method is reliable and applicable to the estimation of reliability of the crack growth behavior.
