Abstract
Local deformation of a laminated sandwich plate subjected to lateral patch load is studied in this paper. A two-parameter elastic foundation is introduced to model the interaction between the core and the loaded anti-symmetrical angle-ply or symmetrical cross-ply laminated face sheet. A semi-analytical method is developed to study the local bending and local buckling behavior of the structure based on the classical laminated plate theory. The effects of boundary condition, load patterns, elastic modulus and thickness of supporting core on local deformations are discussed in detail.
