INSTABILITY BEHAVIOR OF PARTIAL DOUBLE-LAYER LATTICE-RIBBED DOMES

  • On the basis of the geometrically nonlinear finite element theory and the generalized incremental algorithm a numerical method is developed for analysis of partial double-layered reticulate-ribbed dome. The composite system consists of three types of elements: bar elements, beam element and a particular beam element with one end pinned and the other end clamped. The stability of partial double layer lattice-ribbed domes is investigated comprehensively. The influence of structural parameters, analytical models for different practical joints, etc, on the stability of the structure is addressed. Meanwhile, the numerical characteristics for the first and second eigenvalues of the structural stiffness matrix, the minimum singular value of the augmented equilibrium matrix and the generalized load are analyzed. A series of conclusions are drawn, which provides use guidelines on practical engineering.
