Abstract
A dynamic analysis of the megaframe with suspension systems (MFSS) is conducted. The component modal synthesis of the primary-secondary combined system is employed in the analysis.A study of the transfer function of the MFSS offers a physical insight of the earthquake resistant philosophy of the structural system. It is found that the megaframe is characterized by the driving effect of the suspension systems. The vibration control of MFSS depends on the control of the driving force. In addition, asynchronous driving principle is proposed to control the driving forces of the suspension systems to the megaframe. Iinitial design philosophy of the MFSS based on the asynchronous driving principle is presented.
