IMPROVING STRATEGIES ON GENETIC ALGORITHM AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE OPTIMUM DESIGN OF BRIOGES UNDER EARTHQUAKE

  • This paper is concerned with some thorny issues of the Genetic Algorithm when it is applied to structural optimum design Suggestions are made and incorporated into the Genetic Algorithm (GA) to deal with the problems of excessive computational cost premature convergence and poor searching ablity along boundaries . The improved GA is adopted to conduct optimum design of bridges under earthquake . It is shown that the improved GA is efficient and reliable .
