ACTUALIZATION OF VISUAL INTERFACE OF SCIENTIFIC DATABASES

Based on two cases, visualization of information in scientific databases of engineering structure experiment is addressed in this paper. The storage, management and display of various multi-media-items under a normal database management system are investigated. The multi-media-items include numeral, short or long text, formula graph, curve, photo, video and icicle, etc. The way to acquire dynamic graphic display of the vibration modes of a structure on the inquiring interface of database is studied. Discussion is also conducted on how to provide users a virtual research environment where users can perform analyses as they browse through the database.
