FRACTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SHEAR STRENGTH FOR UNSATURATED EXPANSIVE SOILS

Shear strength character of unsaturated expansive soils is studied on the basis of its fractal microstructure. The relation between the shear strength and matrix suction of unsaturated expansive soil is presented by considering the fractal distribution of micropores of expansive soils, and it is supported by the triaxial testing results of expansive soil in Ningxia.
