Abstract
Passive energy dissipation structure is one popular aseismic structure for passive seismic control. In the study, building structure was considered as a mass-spring model, and a weak layer was installed to investigate the possibility of converging seismic energy damage on the weak layer. According to energy conservation, time-history analysis was employed to calculate the model’s seismic response and energy dissipation. Based on the result, the feasibility of controlling seismic energy dissipation is discussed. It is found that the metallic damper installed in the structure and the parameters of the weak layer affect the energy damage convergence.
