Abstract
In this paper, a structural total cost model is established which considers normal maintenance and failure damage in its service life. And a structural optimum design based on this model is discussed. An approach for determination of proper structural system failure probability based on this model this total cost model is presented and a concept of structural optimum design balanced with normal maintenance in its service life is proposed.
