QUADRILATERAL MEMBRANE ELEMENT WITH VERTEX ROTATIONAL FREEDOM FROM GENERALIZED COMPATIBLE CONDITION

By introducing vertex rigid rotation as freedom, two new quadrilateral membrane elements are presented from the concept ofgeneralized conforming finite element. The elements, with simple formulation, pass the patch test for any geometry, therefore assure convergence to an exact solution. Numerical results demonstrate that very good accuracy is achieved for both displacement and stress.
