Abstract
The objective of this paper is to study lower order resonance phenomenon of nipper mechanism on a comber which is a seven-bar linkage with two degrees of freedom based on kineto-elasto-dynamics (KED). Equations of motion are formulated considering the operating condition and solved by a mode superposition method. Four designs are produced to find the reason of lower order resonance of nipper mechanism which maybe is an inertial load, the pressure of pressurization mechanism or an impact force. The results show that the first three order harmonic resonances are predominant, caused by the pressure of pressurization mechanism, while the inertial load has influence on the dynamic response only, and the impact force can be ignored in both the dynamic response and resonance of nipper mechanism.
