STRENGTH AND DEFORMATION CHARACTERISTICS OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTES

Beginning with a brief review of the development of Environmental Geotechnics, the authors discussed the properties and classifications of municipal solid waste, in which much attention is directed to the strength and deformation characteristics of solid waste. The authors also introduced the decomposition of organic component in the waste, together with the recent research work carried out in Tsinghua University.
